Camp report 2010 by Sian.
Evening show jumping held at Helen and Roy Radmore's near Shaugh Prior was well supported again this summer. Many thanks to all those who came along to watch, help or compete.
The dressage was not well supported despite being requested at the AGM. Any ideas please? Many thanks to Helen and Roy for the use of their field.
This was held at Winkleigh on 20th June 2010. The show jumping and XC courses were well up to height and quite technical. Alex Ashton with Talisker and Cynthia Cane with Hugo both did well and were pleased with their mounts.
Kate Parker was placed 3rd as an individual riding Fejing. Kate qualifies to compete at the finals.
This qualifier was held on Sunday 23rd May 2010 and was hosted by North Tawton Riding Club. The venue was beautiful and everyone was most friendly and helpful. It was a very long day but thankfully the weather was lovely. The WDRC team was one of just two teams finishing on zero score after both rounds. We jumped off against Threewaters. The fastest three clear rounds from each team had their times added together to decide the winners. It was announced that less than a second separated the teams! Then they kept us in nail biting suspense while they double checked the times. At last it was given out that West Devon had won. We were thrilled. The finals are at Lincoln in September. Pauline was our nominated helper on the day. The team was Cadi Rowe and Glenkyle Star, Sally Roberts and Buster, Alex Ashton and Talisker, Lucy Luscombe and Brixton Beau. Lucy also won the Open class as an individual riding Perfect Scoundrel so she has two rides at the Championships. Buster was placed 5th as an individual. See photo of the team here.
We had a good turnout for our Spring Show. The early jumping classes were particularly well supported despite the rain. There were lots of clear rounds; Samantha Underwood and Billy Whiz were unstoppable, they won the first two classes. Zoe Gooding and Freddie were also in good form, they won two classes with time to spare taking the 'Manes and Tails' Trophy. The larger classes were not so busy but the standard of horses and riders was most impressive. Sally Gooding won the Open on Radeem. The fences in the large Open reached 3' 6" and Lucy Luscombe with Perfect Scoundrel produced a foot perfect clear round to win the final class. There was a jump off for second place between Lucy's Brixton Beau and Sally who jumped a wide spread at an unbelievable angle to take second place.
The dressage was also well supported. Judi Petch won the Prelim on Rosa while Stacey Escrig won the intro on her beautiful grey.

Dry and blue sky , what else could we ask for to do the ride along the dismantled railway track to the Plume of Feathers at Princetown for lunch. A lovely canter along Yennadon started the ride, and the horses settled quickly. After a lovely picnic lunch bought up by Pauline and a rest for our trusty steeds, we set off along the Abbots Way towards Nuns Cross and then towards the Scout Hut and Ringmoor Down. The views across the high moor were spectacular and you could see for miles . A very welcome ice cream was enjoyed back at Burrator and back to the Quarry Car park for rosettes. Lisa Seward was also at the start and took some pictures. Thank you to everyone who joined us . - Alex.

At The Devon Tors on Thursday 8th April. This was a very successful and enjoyable evening. Many thanks to all of you who turned up to support your club. Thanks to the non-members who supported us and to the Gentleman who supplied the questions, unfortunately he was unable to be there on the night. Pauline took his place and all was well.
Area 19 Festival of the Horse Qualifier 27/02/10
On Saturday 27th February 2010 at Colraine, Stacie Harrison riding Hillam My Dudley did very well, she qualified for the combined training at the Festival of the Horse, and also qualified for Royal Windsor in the top score. This is a fantastic result, Congratulations to Stacie. Alex Ashton and Talisker came 6th. It was a very long journey, there were lots of flower pots and decorations to distract the horses. Everyone was given a goodie bag from the sponsors, AM Trust Insurance. Colraine as a center was well run with a nice friendly atomsphere.
Area 19 Senior Show Jumping 21/02/10
The Senior teams also did well. The Blue team - Kate Parker with Little Lady, Sally Roberts on Buster, Cynthia Cane on Hugo Boss and Sally Gooding on Radeem finished in 8th place. The Red team were most unlucky when Cadi Rowe's Zak was kicked in the warm up area and forced to withdraw after jumping a lovely clear round. Other members were Kate Parker on Fejing, Sally Gooding on Charm and Alex Ashton on Talisker. Alex was individual 4th, Sally Gooding 6th, Sally Roberts 6th, Cynthia 9th, Kate 9th and 10th.
